Manchester United vs Tottenham – Prediction
Manchester United to win 2-1, United were pretty average against the Gunners in the FA Cup and deservedly got kicked out of the competition. Focus now must be fully on a top 4 finish this season but it isn’t going to easy.
Spurs’s domestic form have been pretty impressive and the progress they’ve made under Mauricio Pochettino this year can be seen. We expect United to bounce back from their FA Cup loss and also see Wayne Rooney getting on the scoresheet.
Manchester United
The true test for Louis Van Gaal and his Manchester United team started last week against Arsenal but went onto lose the FA Cup clash against their arch rivals 2-1 home.
It was first of the many big test that is coming Louis Van Gaal’s way and need better performances from now on if they are to finish the season among the top 4. They are currently 4th in the table but are rapidly losing ground to teams below them as each week passes by.
They have been nothing but average for much of the season edging out results by the narrowest of margins. There last league win against Newcastle was another game were they should’ve gotten just a point based on performance but edged out a win thanks to a 89th minute goal from Ashley Young.
It’s only going to get difficult for United with them having to face Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea in 3 of their next 4 games after Spurs in the league.
United are on a five game winless run against the Spurs with their last victory against them coming in the 2011/12 season when they won 3-1 at White Hart Lane.
United will miss the duo of Angel Di Maria (1 match man) and Johnny Evans (6 game ban for Spitting on Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse).
Robin Van Persie is still missing with injury while defender Marcos Rojo is also doubtful with a groin injury.

Tottenham Hotspurs
Spurs come into this match on the back of a hard fought 2-1 win over QPR last week. They have been in impressive form in the league picking up 13 points from their last 6 Premier League games
There have been disappointments in between like losing the League Cup final to Chelsea and getting knocked out of the Europa league in the round of 32 by Fiorentina but the progress they made under Pochettino this season can be seen.
They are currently 6th in table 3 points behind United in 4th . They may not move ahead of United with a win here due to the huge difference in goal difference between that a win will send a message to the rest of the top 4 contenders.
Apart from games against Southampton and Manchester City and this one against United they are have fairly easy run of games till the end of the season so their fate is in their own hands.
Harry Kane picked up his consecutive Barclay’s player of the month award for continuing his impressive run of form in February. His brace against QPR last Saturday now sees him tied with Gareth Bale’s record of 26 goals in a season for Spurs.
Spurs have won on their last two visits to Manchester United and Pochettino will be happy of the fact that he has a fully fit squad to choose from.

The last time these two teams met this season the game ended in a goalless draw at White Hart Lane.
